Extruded acrylic sheet production process mainly includes the following steps:
1. **Raw material preparation**:
- The main raw material is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), also known as plexiglass.
- Processing auxiliary materials, such as anti-UV agent, anti-static agent, etc., also need to be prepared to ensure the quality of raw materials is stable.
- The raw materials need to be dried to remove the moisture in them to prevent air bubbles during the extrusion molding process.
2. **Mixing of raw materials**:
- Mix the polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) with additives and pigments after certain heating and stirring.
- Make the raw material reach a certain viscosity and fluidity for subsequent extrusion molding.
3. **Mold design**:
- According to the desired shape and size of the acrylic sheet, design a suitable mold.
- The design of the die needs to take into account the fluidity of the extruded material and the requirements of molding.
4. **Extrusion Molding**:
- The mixed raw material is loaded into the hopper of the extruder.
- By the action of heat and pressure, the raw material is formed into the desired plate shape by the action of the die.
- During this process, parameters such as temperature, pressure and extrusion speed need to be controlled to ensure the quality and dimensional accuracy of the extruded sheet. Typically, the plastic pellets are heated to between 185-220°C to melt them into an extrudable melt.
5. **Calendering**:
- The extruded melt is calendered with the aid of rolls.
- The temperature of the rolls is controlled between 70-90°C. The rolls will flatten the melt and make it cool and solidify into acrylic sheet under the action of friction and high speed air flow.
6. **Cooling and solidification**:
- After extrusion molding, the acrylic sheet needs to be cooled and cured to give it sufficient strength and stability.
- This can be done by natural cooling, water cooling or air cooling.
7. **Cutting and trimming**:
- After cooling and curing, the acrylic extruded sheet needs to be cut and trimmed to achieve the desired size and shape.
- Cutting and trimming can be done by hand cutting, mechanical cutting or laser cutting.
8. **Surface treatment**:
- Surface treatment may be required to enhance the weather resistance and decorative effect of the acrylic sheet.
- Common surface treatments include spraying, screen printing, and laminating.
9. **Quality control packaging**:
- The last step is to quality check and package the acrylic extruded sheet.
- Quality control mainly check the appearance of the extrusion plate quality, dimensional accuracy and physical properties and other indicators to ensure that it meets the relevant standards and requirements.
- Qualified extrusion plate after packaging, can be factory sales or transportation to the construction site.
The whole extruded acrylic sheet production process requires strict control of each step to ensure that the produced acrylic sheet has high quality and stability.
